Now the "Truly, Very Nasty", Party

Dear Sir,

Theresa May, in her of role of Chairwoman of the Conservative Party, at the 2002 Party Conference described the Conservative Party as the "Nasty" Party.

Since then with Theresa May as Home Secretary for six years and then Prime Minister for another two years, the Conservative Party has taken a significant further shift to the right.

This is evidenced by David Bannerman, the Conservative M.E.P. and a former U.K.I.P. Deputy Leader who defected back to the Conservatives in 2012. Mr Bannerman recently wrote that "It is about time we brought the Treason Act (of 1372) up to date and made it apply to those seeking to destroy or undermine the British state. It also means those in future actively working undemocratically against U.K. through extreme E.U. loyalty".

Virendra Sharma, the Labour M.P. of Ealing Southall, accused David Bannerman of "putting a knife into free speech".

As Guy Verhofstadt, the European Parliament Brexit coordinator, stated "These comments are insane. Winston Churchill would have been prosecuted under these proposals."

Indeed, the Conservative Party thanks to the policies of our Prime Minister is now the "Truly Very Nasty" party.

Yours faithfully,

Robert Douglas,
