Providing help with bus routes survey

July 13, 2017 5:11 PM
By Paul Duffy in Congleton Chronicle

Congleton residents who are struggling to fi ll in questionnaires on the proposed changes to bus routes have been offered assistance by Congleton Lib Dems.

Residents have been urged to come forward and share their views on the proposed changes to local bus services, but Lib Dem member Paul Duffy fears the way the questionnaires are written may make it diffi cult for some people to give feedback.

The Chronicle recently reported that a campaign had been launched to highlight the impact of a planned £1.6m reduction in the borough's bus budget.

Cheshire East Council wants to end subsidies for the 77, Congleton, Mow Cop, Kidsgrove bus, the 99, Congleton to Macclesfi eld route and the 315 Congleton to Rode Heath service, as well as reducing support for the 38, Crewe, Sandbach, Congleton and Macclesfi eld route.

In its supported bus service review consultation document, the borough said: "We recognise that local buses are an important factor in the lives of many Cheshire East residents and therefore it is vital that you have your say on our proposed changes."

They can leave feedback on the proposals by visiting cheshireeast.gov.uk/busreview

They can contact Cheshire East on 0300 123 55 00 to get the questionnaire in an alternative format.

However, Mr Duffy feared vital information might be overlooked because of the way the consultation forms are accessed.

He said: "I am offering help to people who may struggle accessing the surveys, so that the Congleton bus services get the feedback that they need."

"The surveys can be complicated so if anyone has anything they wish to talk about then they can contact me directly."

Anyone who has diffi culty completing the forms can contact Mr Duffy on paulduffyld@gmail.com or phone 07716466447.

The closing date for responses is Wednesday, 26th July.
