Simon Davey Praises Commitment of North West MEP Chris Davies

Chris making a difference in the North West

Congleton Campaigner Simon Davey has praised the work and commitment of North West colleague Chris Davies who resigned as Leader of LDEPP yesterday (May 4th, 2006).

"Chris has rightly made a full apology for the remarks which led to this very unfortunate situation and he has recognised what was said was unacceptable," said Simon. "But we should also remember Chris has played a very active and prominent role in our Party for a number of years and will undoubtedly continue to do so.

"He has been instrumental in driving through reform to the European Union, making Europe work for his North West constituents and making significant contributions and sacrifices for the benefit of the Party in this region.

"His energy, enthusiasm and commitment for the principles that both Chris and the Liberal Democrats represent are an example to us all and I know Chris will continue to be a valued and respected colleague who will continue to make a strong contribution to our group in the Parliament," Mr Davey concluded.
