Dear Sir,
Now that we have had the pre-election budget today, it is highly likely that the General Election will be on the 6th May. At long last, the electorate will have the opportunity to give their verdict on this Government's term of office. Like the Conservative Party before, it has gone on for far too long.
The only alternative to continuing with this Punch and Judy Show is to vote for a real change. The other two parties seem to prefer competing for headlines to acting in the best interests of the country. Whether it is locking more people up, committing our troops to conflict because The United States wants us to or not telling us the truth about our economic situation they are engaged in a shameless competition for power.
I sense the country has had enough and will welcome some constraint on whichever Party wins. This will restrain it from acting on its ill thought our policies and allow some measure of influence by others. The Liberal Democrats will act, if the opportunity arises, to implement its manifesto and to respect the electorate's wishes.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Peter Hirst
