Congleton MP condemned for inconsistency over proposed incinerator

Congleton MP, Ann Winterton is widely reported to oppose the proposed incinerator in Middlewich. According to Theyvoteforus.com, an established website detailing how MPs vote, she has failed to sign an Early Day Motion on Covanta, the American company planning to build the incinerator.
Dr Peter Hirst, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson for Congleton, commenting says " It is all very well for her to receive undoubted welcome praise for her reported opposition to this unwanted development.
"However, when it comes to putting her pen where her mouth is she proves lacking. If 22 other MPs can find the time to register concern about Covanta's operations surely she can too.
He concludes " At a time when MPs are coming under increasing scrutiny it is vital that she shows some consistency. Either she should sign the Early Day Motion or should withdraw her comments."
