Would-be, Liberal Democrat MP for Congleton Constituency, Dr Peter Hirst, is supporting Lib Dem Leader, Nick Clegg's call for more regional influence in business investment. Nick has asked Lib Dem Shadow Business Secretary, John Thurso to conduct a review into the viability of regional stock markets and the role they could play in Britain's economic recovery.
Peter Hirst says, "It is only sensible to see if a more regional focused investment strategy might encourage investors who are disillusioned with The City to put their cash into small and medium sized businesses.
He continues, "We would then see local businesses here in East Cheshire grow and their money retained within the local community.
"With the central banks failing, it is time to look at innovative ways to re-stimulate the economy and what can be better than to allow those with capital to invest in their local communities," he concludes.
