Congleton Lib Dems Demand Fairer Society

Congleton Liberal Democrats fully endorse the demand for a fairer society, contained in the recently released Liberal Democrat national, pre-election manifesto, A Fresh Start for Britain. In the document, the Party publishes its main themes for the General Election.
Dr Peter Hirst, the local Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesperson states "It will be totally unfair if we expect the next generation to shoulder the costs of our excessive credit, housing bubble and banking crisis. That bubble has completely burst and we must face the consequences now and in the future."
He continues "We already live in one of the most unequal and rigid societies in the developed world. Young people are quite right to be very concerned about their future. The least we can do is to return to sound public finances as soon as possible."
Dr Hirst concludes "Hard decisions will need to be made. We are determined to have policies that will reverse our legacy to future generations. We must increase our social mobility and improve life chances for all."
