Lib Dems Confident of Future on Congleton Borough

May 5, 2006 11:44 AM

Congleton Lib Dems held on to many of their key seats in Congleton Borough and increased their vote in many other seats. It was a disappointing night for Congleton North West and Simon Davey lost his seat to the Conservatives as did Ray Lowe in Astbury, by a nail biting 1 vote! Ray is a very well respected community activist and a County Councillor. He has worked hard for the people of the Borough and will continue to do so for his County constituents.

Simon Davey commented:

"Whilst we didn't do as well as we were hoping we clearly got our message across with an increased share of the vote in most seats and positive feedback to our campaign. We have to take stock and look at how we develop further both in the local elections next year and in the upcoming General Election"
