Simon Davey, Liberal Democrat Candidate for Congleton West Ward, welcomed news of a public meeting to discuss proposals for a Congleton Bypass.
"I live near the Fire Station roundabout and I know congestion and pollution plagues our area. We are very concerned at the pollution readings taken recently along West Road, which showed many householders are at risk of poor health.
I am very disappointed that plans for a Congleton bypass have not even featured on the County's Transport plan and I would use my influence at County to fight for this.
The roads in Congleton are in a poor state and set to get worse under Conservative transport plans. Liberal Democrats will campaign for the update of the 1996 Transport study and prove there is an economic and more importantly a health basis for this bye-pass.
I urge all householders along West Road and in West Heath to write to the county before the Public Consultation period ends.
